It is now a week after Thanksgiving.

Black Friday, and Cyber Monday are firmly in the rearview.

This Thanksgiving was a milestone for Denise, and I. It was our first Thanksgiving together as a couple. It was the first Thanksgiving for me as Host. I have always traveled to someones house for the day.

We served 11 people Thanksgiving dinner. A traditional dinner to be sure….turkey…with a couple of chickens tossed in just to be sure we had enough…candied yams, dressing….or stuffing depending on where you grew up, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry relish, cheese and crackers…with pumpkin pie, and rum cake to round it all out.

And we all ate so much, each one of us felt “rounded out” by the end of the day.

Football was watched….how did the Lions actually win on Thanksgiving day? Some how that seemed very different from how I remember years past. Naps were taken. Cigars were smoked….by me, but hey I offered…..

And it was a wonderful day. No fights, no hurt feelings, no emotional outbursts. You couldn’t, and I wouldn’t have asked for anything more.

I hope you had the same type of experience. We are going to be doing the same for Christmas and I can’t wait. I have waited many years to enjoy the holidays. This Thanksgiving was a very good start.
