Those of us who live in and around Harrisburg, Pennsylvania need to take note of this date:
September 13, 2008.
That is the day that the Alzheimer’s Association will be holding a Alzheimer’s Memory Walk on City Island. These memory walks, held in more than 600 communities, are the nations largest events used to raise awareness, and funds. The funds are used to provide care, support, and research.
Mlw’s Maternal Grandmother was an Alzheimer victim. In the last years of her life she lost touch with what was happening to her in the here, and now. This strong woman who had worked a farm with her husband, raised many children, and supported them when her husband passed forgot the names of everyone around her. It was heart breaking to see.
That is why I am asking you today to find out when the walk is in your city, and to sign up. Go that one step further and become a Team Captain and make up your own team. A typical walk is 2-3 miles. Even I can do that much. Sign up now. Show you care.
Thank you.
