Watch out, Bambi

In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania it is that time again. Deer hunting season. The official gun season starts at day break on Monday, December 1st.

Lots of folks, men and women, are getting their gear together and heading out for hunting camps, or hotel rooms so that when day break hits they can hopefully be one of the lucky ones to get that huge buck.

The day after Thanksgiving there was a Nikon Black Friday Promo on their website. If you missed it there are still a bunch of deals out there on scopes, binoculars, rangefinders and more. You can even get an additional $20 off the popular ATB binoculars.

A Thanksgiving tradition followed yet again this year.

My heart is as full as my stomach.

Even though I live 1000 miles to the east, my heart is always there along the banks of Lake Michigan. Tuned in to watch the Lions play whoever it is that they will be playing. And losing.

Making a better mouse trap

The mouse trap is already made, he is just honing his skills.

We have 2 cats. Bubba, and Buster. Bubba is the senior statesman of the cats. He has been with us longest. Bubba was rescued from the mean streets of Chambersburg, Pa and put up for adoption.

We adopted him.

Bubba spent the first year of his time with us in our basement. He did not like people in any way, shape or form. But he has formed a connection to MLW. And her to him. Bubba does not like being petted. He does like to rub against your feet, and you can tell that he really, REALLY wants to be rubbed and scratched, but something that happened to him early in his life keeps him from those pleasures.

The cats like to hang out in our kitchen during the winter months looking for mice. Yes, occaisionally one of the little buggers gets in our house. And that is when the fun starts. Because Bubba likes to catch mice. In a big way. Bubba will do whatever it takes to get the mouse. And then play with the mouse. Bubba is fierce.

The other night I heard Bubba scrabbling around in the kitchen. And then I heard him growling. Bubba does not growl. I got up, went into the kitchen, and there was not Bubba the abused cat. There was Bubba, Mouse Hunter. And he was growling at me, he did not want me to get his mouse. Especially since he hadn’t shown it to his human yet.

Yes. Bubba wanted to show his kill to MLW. Now doesn’t that bring a smile to your face. Espcially since she was sitting on the couch telling me to get rid of the mouse. That her favorite cat had just killed, and wanted to show her. Because she is his human.

Tell me that that isn’t a messed up way to spend an evening at home.

There are a thousand different ways to lose weight. One way is to move your butt more than what you are currently doing. Walk the dog, go to the gym, ride a bike, anything that involves moving your body more. The second is to decrease the amount of calories that you are taking in.

Both ways are easier said than done. Ask me, a life long dieter with the will power of a gnat. MLW has will power of iron. Once she makes up her mind, that is it for her. Me? Not so much. Which is why we have looked into Nurtisystems for me. If I know that I can only eat x, then I will only eat x. I am so much like a kid it isn’t funny. Give me too many options, and I am all over them like white on rice.

So we are looking into Nutrisystems, what it all entails, and what it is going to cost us. Enter some Nutrisystem coupons we found at an online coupons site. Using one of the coupons offered, I can save 10% off of my food, and get free delivery. Or I can choose 3 weeks of free food when I order 3 months up front. That is worth alot in these times of tight money.

Branding. It is an important part of a website, and blogging.

Finding your voice, and your subject matter is what branding is. Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it?

It isn’t simple. For a social network blog such as this, branding can be darn near impossible. Just look at the title: “The Things in my Head go ‘Round and ‘Round.” That pretty much tells you that you aren’t going to be able to predict what I am going to say.

Other than it will be off the wall. And controversial. Sometimes.

But I have been thinking about branding lately. What it could mean to me in the way of traffic, and in the way of potential income. And I think that I will keep things just the way that they are right now. disjointed.

Web hosting so easy…

Yes, I went there. web hosting so easy, even a cave man could do it.

And those cave men are getting on my last nerve. That being said, I have talked about looking for, and finding a web host that takes care of your web needs before. And some of you didn’t get the message.

There are seemingly a million places who want your web hosting business. Some good, and some not so good. How the heck do you tell the difference? Do you go by word of mouth? This person might have a good experience with one hosting firm, and the next could end up having a train wreck of an experience.

Train wreck. I like that expression. And it does describe what it is like when you are having a less than positive experience with a company.

Webhostinggeeks.com are not like that. When you go to their site you are given reviews of some of the more popular web hosting companies. They also have a “Best Of” section such as Best Budget Hosting, along with a slew of other pages where you can learn how to monetize, what host is the best for you, and basic web hosting information.

This is a great service. Now go out there and use it.

Michigan Proposal 1 conundrum

I say that it is a conundrum, but it is really just a confusion. Why? Because since Michigan Proposal 1 passed, there has been little or no talk about it. We know that it will go into law as of December 4th. We know that the framework of how it will be regulated won’t be in place until sometime around April 2009.

But what else is going on? Are the citizens just to sit around and hope that everything is going the way that it should?

I am confused.

The heat is on

It is rather amusing what with snow in the forecast for tonight that I should be talking about car air conditioning. But this is the time of year when I start making plans about what repairs I will be making on The Red Beast. My truck is 14 years old, and every year I make repairs on it to keep it running right. This year I am going to be looking at the clutch, and the ac system. Specifically the A/C compressor. I could not survive in the humid wasteland that is Pennsylvania in the summer without a correctly working air conditioning system. It just would not happen.

So I looked up 1airconditioning dot com, and have ordered the parts my mechanic is going to need to get me on the cool side. Make the plans now, so that you have what you need when you need it.
