The things in my head go ’round and ’round

This is my life. You can’t have it.

Archive for the ‘clowns’

Here you go. Jubilee Day as promised.

Jubilee Day 2008 is here. The weather is beautiful, and the crowds are in full force as you can see.

the longest running one day street fair in the united states

And if that picture doesn’t put it all into perspective how about this one?

Look at all of those people

We went with a friend of ours and without The Princess, who is on a vacation of her own to the Outer Banks with some friends. Lucky little devil. Anyway, I did the whole Italian Sausage, and deep fried mushrooms route. The mushrooms were perfect as deep fried mushrooms can only be perfect. The sandwich, eh. I do this every year where I get the sausage, and I really should just go with the chicken on a skewer, or a pork sandwich. There are only a few places that I have had really great sausage sandwiches, and Jubilee Day has never been one of them. We also had ice cream at Rakestraws, which is the absolute best ice cream around. Of course, any ice cream is the absolute best around as far as I am concerned.

Who doesn\'t love deep fried mushrooms?

We ran into some local celebrities there also. The Mayor of Mechanicsburg, Jack Ritter was there on stage getting things going. Rocking the top hat thing that he does. Mayor Ritter also owns a hardware store in town that is one of the great old time hardware stores in the area. The folks that work there are very friendly, and knowledgeable.

We ran into our choice for President, Barack Obama. We were looking for John McCain, but didn’t find him. We did find a booth that was asking the question of who would be better equipped to lead us to peace between Obama, and McCain. Unfortunately, the booth had a clown talking to the person who was operating the booth. That turned me off right from the get go. Clowns are evil.

The next president of the United States

And we also ran into Chuck Rhodes who is a weatherman on one of our local television stations. Chuck has been on local tv for years and is a much loved personality. He is a warm, and charming man when you meet him out on the street. Chuck is the weatherman that MLW grew up with. He is still doing the weather, but does a Charles Kurralt thing also. He has been replaced on the nightly news by meteorologist Mick O’Hearn.

Our much loved weatherman

There seemed to be way too many clowns roaming the streets for our tastes. Though I didn’t take any pictures of them, they were there. You will have to just believe me on this one. Every place I turned there were clowns. Clowns giving out balloons, clowns talking to people, clowns with their own booth. Creeped me way out.

And the clowns weren’t the only ones out in full regalia. Stoners, punks, Sk8r’s, Goth, and you name it was there. I saw more piercings today than I have seen in a long time. And of course the Army, and Marines were there appealing to the testosterone in the teenage boys. They had the boys, and a couple of girls doing pullups to win stuff. Craft vendors for every taste, and price range. We bought a picture for the living room, and a giraffe for The Princess. The one thing that was missing this year was the guy who makes corn brooms right there. He is someone that I look for everytime I go down to Jubilee Day. I miss him.

While we were at Rakestraws I met up with a couple of ladies who thought that I was the most handsome, and charming men around.

Just don’t tell my wife.

And next year stay out of my parking place.

The things in my head- American Idol

The things in my head:

Is everyone watching American Idol? Right now? Do you hate the Jonas Bros. as much as I do?

Or do you love them as much as The Princess does?

Seal did not sound as good as I have heard before. But that song that he did was a favorite.

Just a few of the things going ’round and ’round in my head.

I was writing about the Apple Ipod here, what do you think about it?

A blast from my past

I went off on a wild content tangent the other day on my other blog. I read so many blogs on a regular basis, and each one of the writers seems to have the same lament.

They don’t have enough to write about. Or maybe that isn’t fair. They don’t have enough interesting things to write about. So some of them do the Meme thing. Which drives me crazy. I don’t like Memes. They are, to me, stupid. I would much rather read an interview with an interesting person.

In keeping with the content theme, I was talking to a co-worker on Wednesday (which I kept thinking was Thursday. Must be wishful thinking, because I am leaving for Arizona on Saturday.) and I asked him why he reads my blogs. And he told me that he doesn’t read to learn anything in particular other than my view of the events that go on during my day. I was flattered. Of course, he has the same sarcastic sense of humor that I have so it is an easy match. But other than scary clowns, retail etiquette rants seem to be the biggest reader draw. That is interesting, and scary all at the same time. Interesting because I want to know what it is about these rants that folks are finding so appealing. Is it the words used to describe the situation? Is it that they can relate to the situation? Or is it that they want to see someone in a difficult situation? It’s scary in that there seem to be more and more blogs popping up talking about this very same thing. And yet the behavior continues. You would think that with more information being shared, that negative behavior would change. And it isn’t changing. Hmmmmmm.

But content is what keeps people coming back to my little slice of heaven. And content is what I am going to give you. I will be on line during my time in Arizona, talking about my fun in the sun. And when I get back I will be talking about the new beer that I will be bottling, along with the new beer that I will be making and putting in the fermenter. Some things never change, do they?

Keep a warm thought out for Spring. It has to come soon. Remember that March 9th is the day that those of us in the Eastern, and Central time zones turn our clocks ahead 1 hour. Spring ahead, and Fall behind. Remember that from school?

That all being said, I will be reaching out to some of my fellow bloggers requesting interviews with them. Small interviews. 5-6 questions to keep it simple, and we will see where it goes from there. If you like the idea, tell me so. If you don’t like the idea, tell me so and give me a better idea. I am open to what you might have to share. I am an open kind of guy.

Namaste.

Terrifyingly, Scary Clowns

I remember when the band “Insane Clown Posse” came out. MLW and the kids thought that it was a hoot. My email inbox ran out of room from all of the emails I received with pics of them. I was not amused.

What I do find amusing is the number of hits this site receives from google with “Scary Clowns” as the criteria. Coming from Europe. Why are they so inamored with my version of scary clowns? I am having bad dreams about these things. I do not find this amusing.

But I wonder why folks in Europe are so interested in scary clowns. If anyone has an idea, please let me know.

Namaste.

New theme

So what do you think? I did like the Stonehenge theme, but it was not that friendly for the Search Engines. I would hate for people not to find all of these that they want to look at:

Yeah. More scary clowns. I could keep on going, I gotta million of them.

Creepy bastards.
