Random things in my head

Ok, I admit it.  I watch “Dog the Bounty Hunter”.  MLW got me hooked on it, and I have noticed one very important thing about this show.    When Dog goes somewhere to help a friend he always does it in a way that makes him look better than the person he helps.  He needs to make himself look better than.

That concerns me.

Watching afternoon television, you end up watching a bazillion ads for drugs.  And each one of them has this long recitation of possible side-effects.  Listening to the litany of possible maladies brought on by ingesting a particular drug does not make me want to rush out ot my Dr. and beg him to prescribe said drug to me.  I just can’t see myself saying that I am willing to take the chance that I will end up with expolsive poop.  Not me.  Sorry.

via the powerful force that Facebook is, I have befriended Grant Rampy.  Yes, THAT Grant Rampy.  Grant is a syndicated news announcer.  Here in Pennsylvania, we find him most reporting on what is going on in Washington, DC.  And today he made me his friend on Facebook.  That is so cool.

I am currently trying to get a local anchor, Al Gnoza, to make me his friend.  More on that later.

Verizon Vs Comcast

As a loyal cable viewer, MLW and I have had Comcast since the day we moved into our abode. And we have had no real complaints. Just the usual grousing about the rate increases, the channels that we don’t get, the reception on some of the channels that we like, the slowness of the internet, blah, blah, blah.

We are spoiled. Admittedly so. And then Verizon FIOS came to town and we get interested. We read all of the BAZILLION pieces of information that inundated us daily in our mail. We talked to friends who had made the switch, and then we talked to a guy who was selling the package door-to-door.

Ok, I actually shut the door in his face when he came round to sell it. I am friendly that way. But I thought better of it, and when I saw him in the neighborhood later that afternoon, I went out and apologized for being an ass and invited him in.

Yes, I apologized. Make a note of this, because it doesn’t happen every day.

We jumped on the Verizon bandwagon. Ok. They bought me with $150 in cash, and a year of free stuff. Go figure, I am a “stuff” whore. Which brings us to today. I have a tech stringing line, and doing stuff to the back of my house, and to my “Box”.

I am not feeling it.

What I am feeling is that good feeling that you get knowing that every TV in my house is going to be able to watch whatever the heck you want to watch on them. Though I have my reservations about The Princess having access to Pay-Per-View available to her. As she hasn’t gotten the concept of who is ACTUALLY PAYING FOR HER PAY-PER-VIEW as of yet. But what ev’s, you know?

So we will see as the day progresses as to how good a feeling I have. Right now, I am without telephone. Big deal, I don’t answer it during the day anyway.

American Idol and Kelly Clarkson

So, did you watch American Idol last night? Kelly Clarkson was on. And though she didn’t look like this:

clarksonvamp

She did an ok job. The song she sang was just eh. I was expecting something off the hook and it just didn’t happen.

Maybe they should have had this guy on:

creepystalkerguy

Because even if he is a creepy stalker guy, the chicks love this guy. As cold, grey, and starved for blood that he is.

Go figure for taste.

A Chester Cheetah Primer

If you are visiting for the first time, or have been around for just awhile you might know about my campaign to warn the world of Chester Cheetah and his dark side.

I discussed it here, and here. And let us not forget this.

Beware, people. Beware.

Trucks being marketed down

What the heck do I mean with trucks being marketed down?

I mean I have been watching football this afternoon, and have seen an advertisement for the new Dodge Ram until I feel like I am going to run screaming from my home if I see it again.

The premise of the commercial is a race between teams of guys driving the Ram pickup on a series of obstacle courses. There is lots of loud music, and dust, and trucks in the air. Everything that a redneck loves. And the only voice other than the announcer is a couple of guys with heavy texas accents and cowboy hats.

Marketing at its finest.

Of course he next most frequent commercial is for Bud Light. And I think we all know what I feel about commercially produced yellow, fizzy water.

I am suspending my campaign

I finished watching “The Colbert Report” the other night, Wednesday to be exact. I wasn’t tired, so I started doing the channel surfing thing starting at channel 2. Here in Pennsylvania channel 2 is the CBS affiliate. Nothing there, so I head up to NBC, and David Letterman. And what did I find? That John McCain was supposed to be on, but called to say that he was canceling his appearance along with his campaign to head back to Washington to help with the crap that is happening in the economy.

WTF?

I can understand canceling an appearance on a television show, but canceling your campaign? I agree with Letterman here, if you as a candidate have to head back to Washington to take care of the country’s business, then you have your running mate pick up the baton and move forward. Where is Palin in all of this? Being protected from the media and the public? Why? Is there something about her inability to talk intelligently about anything having to do with policy that has the McCain/Palin group uncomfortable? Do we want this person as our VP?

I am not thinking so.

Though is is pretty funny to watch Letterman taking McCain to task.

Wearing white after Labor Day

I just looked up to the TV after reading about the Hadron Collider, The Today Show is currently on, and the big story now is whether or not you should wear white after Labor Day.

WTH?

Is this what is of major interest to the residents of the US?

And the discussion is revolving around the different shades of white. Ivory, cream, winter white.

Again, WTH?

You have folks who are home during the day for various reasons, and what they can see on The Today Show is two female talking heads discussing why it is now in good taste to wear white after Labor Day.

I am going to shoot myself.

Namaste.

Spam is the word of the day

I have been getting hit with a tremendous amount of spam comments lately. Wonder why? A good portion of them have to do with buying car insurance. Are any of you having trouble finding good, reasonably priced car insurance? Don’t you watch television?

Here in Pennsylvania every other commercial on television has to do with car insurance. And the one just before has to do with insurance fraud. And then the commercial AFTER the car insurance one is about erectile dysfunction. Seems that here in Pennsylvania we have a concern with people ripping off the insurance companies, finding good and affordable car insurance, and then being able to perform as needed when “the time is right”.

This is what is making me crazy today.

At home with the Jonas Brothers

We hurried up and left the beach so that we could make it home so that The Princess could watch a Miley Cyrus concert where her dream Nick Jonas would be performing with the remaining Jo Bros.

But unfortunately the Jo Bros have been a no show on the telepho-ne.

We got home with enough time to go to the store so that The Princess could buy the latest copy of The Rolling Stone, because the Jo Bros are on the front page. And to make life that much sweeter, the Brothers Jonas played at Hershey Park Friday night, and their pictures are on the front of the 2nd page.

The Princess is in nirvana.

And Sunday, the Disney Games are on. And guess who would be participating?

Come on. You can guess.

Go ahead. Come on.

Ok, I will tell you. Dream boy Nick, Cutie Pie Joe, and Jo Fro wearing Jo Bro Kevin.

So, maybe the Jo Bros are in Soho, hanging with J-lo, at the DoJo, playing Dobro, solo.

You guys gotta help me adding on to this. It is a whole lot of fun.

Namaste.
