The things in my head go 'round and 'round

This is my life. You can't have it.

Paintballing by the numbers

A guy I used to work with owned a paint ball store. He, and his partner, sold all kinds of cool paint ball guns, and the accessories that go with them. I bought a really nice spyder from him for my youngest son.

Today though, I am thinking about doing some tactical paintball. Yeah. Take the gun to work and start sniping the folks that piss me off. No head shots. Just a solid chest hit when they do something stupid.

Of course we all know that that wouldn’t fly too well.

Shoot.

No pun intended.

Ok, I am tapped out right now

I started working at a new location, and right now I am pretty tapped out mentally. Sorry.

The location I am now working at has some interesting issues to deal with. Sanitation, follow through by the management staff, training of the associates, and the fact that this location will be moving to a new venue in about 9 months.

Sounds like fun doesn’t it? So here I am trying to instill some basic retail standards in the current group, while trying to figure out who is going to be going to the new venue.

And right now, it doesn’t look like many of them will be.

So. That is where I am at.

I have a day off coming up this Sunday. Going to watch some football, and get my head back in line.

Talk to you then.

A Dragon Coupon Code Just For You

I am making my list Christmas Wish List. Updating it, actually, to include Dragon Naturally Speaking. I want this. I want this bad. If you take a look at the videos that I embedded above you can see why. My favorite on is where you can be away from your computer, talk into the Logitech Headset, and have your computer do all of the typing.

I hate being tethered to either my desktop, or my laptop. Makes me crazy. I find myself typing something, and then wandering around for awhile, coming back, editing (yes, I do edit at times), and continuing on with my thoughts. Having the ability to compose on the fly would make my life that much easier. And your reading enjoyment that much more.

So here is my list.

1. Personal SEO coach.

2. Dragon Naturally Speaking

3. New design. A personalized one. Call me before you buy this, I have a few ideas.

4. A new computer.

5. A new laptop.

6. An actual copy of XP that isn’t cobbled together with spit, and bubble gum.

7. The time to study with the SEO coach.

8. Finish my office space.

9. Finish the deck so that I can use that as office space in the summer.

10. A new pair of socks.

So Santa, hows about helping a guy out? I have been reasonably good this year. I think. I mean, we could sit down over a homebrew and discuss any concerns that you might have over my behavior this past year. I am sure we could come to a meeting of the minds over any disparities.

Out on the mean streets

It has been absolutely frigid here in the Mid-Atlantic states the past few days.  Combine the cold with people rushing around trying to get their shopping for Christmas completed, office parties, and the usual freakazoids driving around you have a pretty toxic mix.  And who do we expect to be there to clean up the messes when they happen?  The Police, and the Ambulance crews.  Because it is their job.

And let me tell you how much I appreciate them doing the job that they do in all kinds of weather.  Wet, dry, hot, cold.  It doesn’t matter, because they are there.  So, with it being the season, how about giving the EMT, or the Policeperson on your list something that looks good while keep them warm?  Take a look at the 5.11 Jackets from Lapolicegear.  Free shipping, a free mug, and a free flashlight with a purchase over $179.99.  You gotta like all of those stocking stuffers.

Check em out.

Watch out, Bambi

In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania it is that time again. Deer hunting season. The official gun season starts at day break on Monday, December 1st.

Lots of folks, men and women, are getting their gear together and heading out for hunting camps, or hotel rooms so that when day break hits they can hopefully be one of the lucky ones to get that huge buck.

The day after Thanksgiving there was a Nikon Black Friday Promo on their website. If you missed it there are still a bunch of deals out there on scopes, binoculars, rangefinders and more. You can even get an additional $20 off the popular ATB binoculars.

Check out the website for some great deals. If you already have your gear for hunting season, there are a number of great Christmas ideas for the hunter on your list.

Here are some Nutrisystem Coupons

There are a thousand different ways to lose weight. One way is to move your butt more than what you are currently doing. Walk the dog, go to the gym, ride a bike, anything that involves moving your body more. The second is to decrease the amount of calories that you are taking in.

Both ways are easier said than done. Ask me, a life long dieter with the will power of a gnat. MLW has will power of iron. Once she makes up her mind, that is it for her. Me? Not so much. Which is why we have looked into Nurtisystems for me. If I know that I can only eat x, then I will only eat x. I am so much like a kid it isn’t funny. Give me too many options, and I am all over them like white on rice.

So we are looking into Nutrisystems, what it all entails, and what it is going to cost us. Enter some Nutrisystem coupons we found at an online coupons site. Using one of the coupons offered, I can save 10% off of my food, and get free delivery. Or I can choose 3 weeks of free food when I order 3 months up front. That is worth alot in these times of tight money.

Coupons are the way to go, and there are coupons out there for pretty much any product or service you are interested in. Take a look.

Web hosting so easy…

Yes, I went there. web hosting so easy, even a cave man could do it.

And those cave men are getting on my last nerve. That being said, I have talked about looking for, and finding a web host that takes care of your web needs before. And some of you didn’t get the message.

There are seemingly a million places who want your web hosting business. Some good, and some not so good. How the heck do you tell the difference? Do you go by word of mouth? This person might have a good experience with one hosting firm, and the next could end up having a train wreck of an experience.

Train wreck. I like that expression. And it does describe what it is like when you are having a less than positive experience with a company.

Webhostinggeeks.com are not like that. When you go to their site you are given reviews of some of the more popular web hosting companies. They also have a “Best Of” section such as Best Budget Hosting, along with a slew of other pages where you can learn how to monetize, what host is the best for you, and basic web hosting information.

This is a great service. Now go out there and use it.

The heat is on

It is rather amusing what with snow in the forecast for tonight that I should be talking about car air conditioning. But this is the time of year when I start making plans about what repairs I will be making on The Red Beast. My truck is 14 years old, and every year I make repairs on it to keep it running right. This year I am going to be looking at the clutch, and the ac system. Specifically the A/C compressor. I could not survive in the humid wasteland that is Pennsylvania in the summer without a correctly working air conditioning system. It just would not happen.

So I looked up 1airconditioning dot com, and have ordered the parts my mechanic is going to need to get me on the cool side. Make the plans now, so that you have what you need when you need it.

I need some cheap eyewear

Ok, maybe not cheap eyewear, but I do need some glasses that aren’t going to set be back a mint. I have had my current glasses for going on a couple of years, and while there is nothing really wrong with them I want a new pair. My prescription hasn’t changed. It has remained the same for quite a few years now, so I am in the market for some inexpensive, ok cheap, eyeglasses.

So I started my search once again, and fired up my favorite search engine. One of the links that came up was from The Chicago Tribune about the options that are out there when you are looking to buy some glasses.

According to the article: “Americans spend $28.7 billion annually on vision products and services, according to the Vision Council of America. Eyeglass frames and lenses make up the largest portion, about $16 billion.

Many of the 147 million adult eyeglass wearers probably don’t know they could be getting a better price because few shop around. Prices vary widely. People can pay more than $1,000 for a pair of glasses, while at least one Internet provider promises a pair for $8. An identical pair of eyeglasses costs from $178 to $390, depending on the optician or optometrist, according to research in seven U.S. cities by Consumers’ Checkbook, a consumer information guide.”

The article goes on to say: “The single most important consumer tip for buying eyeglasses is to relax. Inexpensive glasses pose no health risk to your eyes. Even a bad pair of glasses — lenses, specifically — won’t give you an eye infection or permanently damage your eyes, although they could cause headaches until they are fixed.”

That all being said, zenni optical is the place that I am going to be looking for my next pair of eyeglasses.

Making Christmas a little easier

Christmas can be a stressful holiday in the best of economic times. Unfortuantely this year it could be a little more stressful than usual. Layoffs, and the fear of layoffs makes the average family take a closer look at the money they have and they money that they want to spend on Christmas. There are different ways that you can take some of the sting out of your holiday buying. One of those ways is to use a layaway program.

A layaway program is where you go to a retailer, pick out the items you want to buy, and then take them back to the layaway department. There a clerk rings them up, bags them or boxes them neatly, lets you know the total and tells you what you will need to pay each week to keep those items. Yeah, you make payments on your purchases each week. How cool is that?

There is only one major retailer that is doing this anymore. Kmart. I used to work for Kmart and have to tell you that the Kmart Lay-Away is a very popular way to make sure that you can afford the items you want to give your family and friends for Christmas. The program takes some planning, you are choosing items for a futuer period in time. But think of the convenience of walking into the store, picking out your items, and having your shopping over until you go back and pick it up. That is convenience.

I a looking at at Sony 37 inch tv. This one to be exact:

Kmart Lay-away

Kmart Lay-away

I like the idea that I can go into the store, pick out my purchase, and then pay for it over a period of up to 8 weeks. That works for me in a big way.
