My butt does not fit a conventional bicycle seat. That right there made it easy for me to decide between a mountain bike, and a trike. And not just any trike. A recumbent trike. What the heck is a recumbent trike?

This is a recumbent trike…Ladies, and Gentlemen..may I introduce The Blue Magoo…

The leg is not mine.

The Blue Magoo is a TerraTrike Cruiser recumbent trike. This is like sitting in my recliner while cruising around. I purchased my trike from a private owner, as the prices can be expensive for an entry level rider as myself. This trike is for casual cruising, meaning mostly level terrain. Though it is equipped with 24 speeds, because you are in a reclined position the amount of torque is different from being in an upright position. And there is no standing up on these pedals to get you up the hill.

I decided to purchase the Magoo for two reasons. The first is that I needed something interesting to do rather than walking for exercising. And second, while traveling back to Arizona after my trip to Michigan in 2020, I realized that I needed a better plan for any subsequent trips. That plan involved me camping rather than taking advantage of generosity of friends.

I then entered into the Kingdom of Why Not? Since I would be camping why not take the Magoo with, and hit some interesting bike trails along the way with the intention of posting videos on YouTube. Because all the cool kids were the road and posting their adventures and making a killing!

Let me set this straight. I had been making a bit of money with FaceBook reels, and I figured that I could do the same thing on the road. I have no belief in ever going viral. But if I could make a few bucks wandering around I was down with that.

I set up my YouTube channel, my Facebook page and started growing my base. And I started making excuses as to why I didn’t ride The Blue Magoo. And the truth was I was overwhelmed trying to be something and someone I wasn’t. I had no clue how to successfully video anything.

The one thing that became clear was that I am a master of procrastination. And and in my procrastination I learned how to justify my lack of activity.
