What do you think of, when you think of your parents?

I think of Mom and Dad waking up early. Mom making breakfast, and packing Dad’s lunch before he goes to work. Listening to WHFB radio.

Mom getting a meal together and putting it in the refrigerator to heat up for dinner before she headed off to work.

Dad coming home from work, changing his clothes, sitting in his chair to watch the local news on TV while reading the two newspapers he read every day.

My parents were, and my mother still is, just normal people. They went to work, they came home. The took care of their family. They went to church. They attended their kids school performances.

Growing up I never saw or even thought of the sheer number of people they dealt with daily. The people they interacted with, and made an impact on.

I posted a photo of my mom on FaceCrack the other day and the number of people commenting, and liking set me back. My parents, as unassuming and normal as I thought they were, knew a tremendous number of people who remember them glowingly.

My parents were Rock Stars. And to me, they were just Mom and Dad.
