Life isn’t fair.

Play fair.

Fair is fair.

Fair means everyone gets what they need.

We try to teach our children to play by the rules…to play fair. To make the playing field as even as possible so that they have a even chance of either winning or losing.

And it is all a lie.

There is no “fair”. There is only what is. Reality. Fairness, or should I say the concept of fairness, lives only in our minds.

Marked by impartiality and honestyfree from self-interest, prejudice, or favoritism….according to Merriam-Webster.

So, to me, that means that being fair means accepting reality. Good people get sick and die. Good people get debilitating illness. Smart people squander their intellect.

Choices are made, and reality sets in.

We want life to be fair, but it just isn’t.

We want people to be fair, but they just aren’t. We are all out for our own self-interest.

Isn’t that fair enough?
