Light, Dark.
Good, Bad.
Hot, Cold.
There is a duality to all things.
Drama, Comedy.
Yin, Yang.
Follow the rules, Break the rules.
Each one of us has a secret side. The side that we don’t show just anyone. Sometimes we don’t show it to anyone. It is the part of us that maybe we aren’t all that proud of. It is a confusing world we live in, isn’t it?

Sometimes we even allow the dark side to creep slowly in. Sometimes it is introduced to us by others who unknowingly have embraced it and want company in that lonely place. I was introduced to several dark sides by others and I (and only I) allowed them to take seed, root, and sprout up over those more daring and impressionable years. Then we spend the rest of our years working to forget, rid ourselves, and even forgive our way past them. Some seemed fun and even harmless at first, but like many things in life we try to take them to extremes. (Does that mean The Dark Side in moderation is ok?)
I am so thankful that I inherited my parents short term memory loss. It has served me well over the years!

But doesn’t the acceptance of that first introduction imply that deep down inside of us there was that need for pleasures that only the dark side bring? That we have to have the balance between that which we show the world, and that which only comes out in our nightmares?
