We start our lives being told what to do by our parents. And that is logical. They want to protect us, keep us safe. They want us to grow up to be productive members of society.
And once we have been loosed into society we are bombarded with a horde of swarming ideas and concepts that are supposed to make our lives simpler, richer, more fulfilling.
Do this, don’t do that. Can’t you read the signs?
Eat this it will help you to live longer. Eat this it is natural. Don’t eat that it is full of things that will cause sickness, or make you prone to sickness. Bran fiber is good for you, eat bran muffins. Too much bran fiber is bad for you it will clog you up. Meat is murder, don’t eat meat. Meat is good for you, increasing protein will help you lose weight. Eat soy, it is good for you. Don’t eat soy it is bad for your body.
Drink lots of water it is good for you. Only drink filtered water because tap water is bad for you. Are you getting enough fluoride? Don’t drink fluoridated water it is bad for you. Coffee is bad, tea is better. Soda will make you fat, diet soda is nothing but a chemical soup.
It all gets so tiring, and confusing. It seems that each day we are told to do something different. To think something different, to believe something different.
When does it all end, and when do we start thinking for ourselves rather than following like lemmings down a new path when something else comes along? Or have we become that society of sheeple who need someone to guide them along?
When did it all stop being so simple.
