It happened again in Colorado.  A kid not happy about something went home, got a shotgun and went back to school with the intent of shooting a teacher.  Instead of his intended target the shooter wounded a 15 yr old girl, and then shot and killed himself.

What is going on here?  It has been 14 years since two students entered Columbine High School and killed 12 students, wounding 24 others before committing suicide.  Since that horrific day there have been 16 school shootings in the US. I am not understanding this.  And I am not trying to make a case for gun control, or to take anyones guns away from them.  I just want to understand why these kids, and a couple of adults thought it was appropriate to shoot up a school.

Nov. 10, 1999: Deming Middle School, Deming, N.M. – Victor Cordova, 12, shot and killed a 13-year-old classmate.

Feb. 29, 2000: Buell Elementary School, Mount Morris Township, Michigan.  A 6-yr old….a 6-YEAR-OLD!  Takes a gun to school and kills a 6-yr old classmate.

May 26, 2000:  Lake Worth Community Middle School, Lake Worth, Fla.  A 13-yr old gets sent home for misbehaving, gets a gun, goes back to school and kills a teacher.

March 5, 2001:  Santana High School, Santee, California.  A 15-yr old kills 2, and wounds 12.

April 24, 2003:  Red Lion Area Jr High School, Red Lion, Pa.  A 14-yr old brings 3 guns to school, wounds the Principal and then kills himself.

Sept. 24, 2003:  Rocori High School, Cold Spring, Minn.  A 15-yr old shot and killed two others.

March 21, 2005:  Red Lake Senior High School, Red Lake Minn.  A 16-yr old shot his grandfather, his grandfather’s girlfriend, 5 students, a teacher, and a security guard before shooting himself.

Nov. 8, 2005:  Campbell County Comprehensive High School, Jacksboro, Tenn.  A 15-yr old shot the Principal, and two Assistant Principals before having his weapons wrestled from him.

Aug. 30, 2006:  Orange High School, Hillsborough, NC.  A former student shoots and kills his father, then goes to the school parking lot where he shoots and wounds two.

Sept. 27, 2006:  Platte Canyon High School, Bailey, Colorado.  An adult shoots a 16-yr old and then himself.

Sept. 29, 2006:  Weston High School, Cazenovia, Wisconsin.  A 15-yr old shoots, and kills his Principal.

Oct. 2, 2006:  Nickle Mines, Pennsylvania.  A 32-yr old enters an Amish school house killing three, and wounding seven before killing himself.

April 16, 2007:  Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va.  A student kills 32 others, and then himself.

Feb 14, 2008:  Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois.  A former student kills 5, and wounds 21 before killing himself.

Dec. 14, 2012:  Newton, Conn.  A teenager shoots his mother, then drives to the school where he shot and killed 26 before killing himself.

June 7, 2013:  Santa Monica College, Santa Monica, California.  A gunman killed 5, wounded 4 before being shot and killed by the police.

Call me dense…but this whole chain of completely horrifying events boggles my mind.  Kids killing kids.  Where does this end, people?
