For years, and years, and years people have made resolutions at the beginning of the new year.
For some of us, it is a situation where we don’t feel we need to change much from what we already are. For others, you know….those damned list makers it is a time to enumerate all the things they would like to improve upon for the upcoming year..
The making of resolutions dates back to the Babylonians who would resolve to repay their debts. The ancient Romans would make promises to the god Janus, you know…the guy who January is named for.
In medieval times, knights would take “peacock vows” re-affirming they vows of chivalry. So you see, some kind of resolution crap has been flowing for centuries.
The most popular goals are:
- Improve physical well-being
- Improve mental well-being; think positive, laugh more often, enjoy life
- Improve finances
Me….I am just happy with not being a jerk to people. I try to keep my goals on the attainable side.
So what kind of person are you? Are you a list-making maniac resolution person? Or are you a let’s just continue down the road as smoothly as possible kind of person?
I would appreciate your input, peeps. Can’t have a decent conversation with only one side being heard….so….you know what to do. The comment box is at the bottom, and is just waiting for your fingers to commence dancing across your keyboards…
