I worked for different companies for 34 years. Dragged myself in the door at whatever time they told me to be there, and then begged to go home after I was scheduled to do so. All for the opportunity to have a steady paycheck at the end of the week.
Putting up with bad bosses who have no leadership ability, and absolutely zero people skills.
All for the benefit of having a steady paycheck.
Well, let me tell you that being out on your own without the steady paycheck is a gut checking dose of reality. Knocking on someones door, calling them on the telephone without an appointment and expecting them to be receptive to a sales pitch can tighten up the ole sphincter nicely.
Don’t get me wrong. It is very nice having the control over your work life. You decide when and where you are going to go. You make a lot of decisions. How much you are going to work, how organized you are going to be, and how you are going to present yourself to the world around you.
But sales can tighten you up just a tad bit.
Just sayin’, folks……
