Alcohol in any form is an acquired taste. No one remembers their first drink without remembering the grimace, and shiver from the taste of the stuff also.
At least I don’t.
That being said, I like bourbon. I like the taste of it. The charcoal. The molasses. The vanilla. And the bite as it goes down. Yum.
That all being said, I also like to cook with it. Why not? I like the flavor. I think that I said that before, didn’t I?
Here are a couple of recipes just for fun and giggles. If you have one or two of your own, I would appreciate you adding them in the comments section…
Steak Marinade:
1/3 cup bourbon
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp dijon mustard
1 tbsp chopped onion
1 tbsp worchestershire sauce
Mix it all up, slather in on your steak of choice and put in the fridge overnight.
I hate commercial BBQ sauce. It just tastes nasty to me since I have been making my own. Here is a sauce with bourbon in it that I find to be exceptional.
Bourbon BBQ Sauce
3/4 cup bourbon
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup tomato paste
1/4 cup worchestershire sauce
2 cups catsup
1/2 cup packed brown suga

I, too, enjoy cooking with bourbon. Sometimes, is even makes it into the recipe.
