Received notification today that my Aunt passed away. She was the last of my Fathers sisters. The baton of the Dodd family has been passed on to my 4 cousins, myself and my two brothers.
A generation gone.
Five or six…loosely figured…are left to continue the blood line that stretches all the way back to Essex, England. Undoubtedly it goes further, but there seem to be no records left after fires, floods, and pillaging by various and sundry ne’er-do-wells in the years preceding Thomas and Katherine Dod.
The stories to be told of my Dad, and his sisters are now relegated to their children to be told. Polished, and expounded upon. Embellished, and changed to protect the innocent.
I shared my birthday with my aunt. We would talk about her being my age, and me being her age. Over the years I received various cards from her to that effect. And then emails. She was a gregarious woman. Full of life, and fire.
She will be remembered with love.
