There are some 126 million single people in the United States. There is a divorce every 36 seconds.
The more times you marry, the more likely that marriage will end in divorce. For example 73% of third marriages, as opposed to 41% of first marriages, end in divorce.
So, when does it all happen? We all can most likely remember that instant when our interest in someone moved into attraction….and then love. And when that love blossoms…..that feeling of never wanting to be apart. Where nothing that they do irritates you. Everything is milk and honey.
Until the milk starts to turn.
The way that the love of your life chews their food. The way that they snore. All those little things that you used to find so cute and endearing now grate on your nerves. Stomp on them, to be exact. And every time you look at them all you feel is disgust.
A number of my friends are single. Some of them have been happily single for years. Some have been in and out of relationships. Some long to find that “Forever Someone”. Some like being able to do what they want, when they want without having to discuss it with anyone else.
And online dating? Been there, done that and let me tell you what a scary proposition it is. Some of my friends have had positive experiences, but not many. And for the women on those sites, the pool of guys you have to deal with….once you weed out all of the married creeps…is usually not the cream of the crop.
The fact is that even though it is what we are taught growing up, not all of us are better off being one part of a couple. For some it just doesn’t work.
What think you?
