There was a time in retail when you could count on the BIG SALES times of the year.

Back to School. That was always a big one.

Easter.

Memorial Day.

And the Holy Mother of all sales….BLACK FRIDAY.

Unfortunately, though, over the past few years the circus that has always been Black Friday has waned with the advent of stores being open on Thanksgiving, and especially with the stores this year having Pre-Black Friday Sales.

This is sort of turning into Alice in Wonderlands un-birthday..

Everyone has 1 birthday a year, which leaves every other day for you to either celebrate or not as your Un-birthday.

Yeah. That is what retail seems to be saying to us in a way to separate you from your cash.

I know that I am dating myself, but I remember a time when you didn’t worry all that much about Christmas until after Thanksgiving. And it was just around Thanksgiving that the Wish Books came in the mail. Remember them?

I remember going through the toy section page, by page….item, by item. Salivating. Making that list for Santa.

Oh, those were the days were they not?

What are your memories of Christmas past? Comments are always welcome, and requested.
