Yes, this will be a love story.
Sixty-one years, three marriages, countless relationships. And each one showed me what I lacked as a partner, but no one wanted to stick around long enough to work it out.
Or perhaps I made it that difficult.
For the past 10 years I have pretty much been on my own. Doing what I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it. No schedules, no commitments, no focus, no direction.
And me knowing that those were the very things that were what was missing in my life. As much of a will o’ the wisp as I am, I know that what I need is structure. Because without structure, get further and further lost. Floating in a sea of bourbon, in a cloud of pakalolo smoke.
Those days have ended. And I could not be happier. Having known Angie for many years, I knew what kind of person she is. Smart, funny, focused, driven and a taker of no shit.
“I ain’t got time for that” is one of her sayings that I hear quite a bit. That and, “it’ll be aight.” We have been together now for just over 2 months. As I said, we have known one another for many years….12 to be exact.
And every day continues to be a surprise. I have so much to learn from this woman. I so grateful that she finds me to be someone she wants to stand with.
It surely isn’t that she wants to improve me….She ain’t got time for that…..
