Heroes.
We like to toss around words, don’t we? Words that are supposed to lift people up.
First responders. Firemen, Police, Doctors, Nurses, Caregivers. Our military.
Now with Covid-19 we have taken to calling our Essential Workers Heroes. Most, like our First Responders, have been doing the same job for years. Trying to make ends meet. Keeping food on the table, and a place to live.
Having to quarantine has shown us how dependent on truck drivers. Store clerks. Cashiers. Cooks. Janitors. Delivery people. Those who work the gig economy.
Thank you to the Stockers who get the groceries off of the trucks, and onto the shelves. Without you we would be eating our neighbors.
Thank you to the Truck Drivers who get the groceries to the stores.
Thank you to the Warehouse workers who get the trucks loaded.
Thank you to the line workers who fill the cans, bottles, and boxes with food.
Thank you to the Cashiers who ring up our purchases.
Thank you to the Cooks and Cashiers at the restaurants where we can pick up food either at the curb, or through the drive-thru.
Thank you to the garbage men picking up our excessive amounts of trash.
Thank you to the Delivery people who bring our purchases to our homes.
Thank you to everyone who picks up, cleans up, and shows up.
Without you, it would all be chaos.
