Chapter 1
Sitting on the sand at sundown after being told that my latest relationship was over.
That July evening would be a harbinger of things to come. Both good and bad, but at that time it was a black cloud that blotted out any light.
I was living in a rundown single-wide trailer affectionately knows as The Meth Lab. Spending my time drinking too much, smoking too much, making a lot of mediocre cover songs, and going to the beach. It was a time of working midnights through the week, and going to the beach on the weekend. It all sounded like heaven, but I found myself getting lost. First things first, though. Why did I call my trailer The Meth Lab?
There used to be a television show called “The Rockford Files” starring James Garner. It aired in the early 70’s. The main character, James Rockford, lived in a sun faded old single-wide trailer that was parked in a parking lot. My trailer was in a neighborhood 3 miles from the Gulf of Mexico in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, but it was just as sun faded and beat up. No Heat. No A/C, other than a window unit and fans. The neighborhood consisted of a couple of trailers similar to mine, and a couple of old businesses. It just looked like a meth lab.
I have this need to name, or title phases of my life. This just began after my divorce in 2010. I began referring to the cover songs I did that time as the Mable Street Tapes. The next phase was the Meth Lab, and working with the Magical Mystery Tour, and the Followers of Chaos.I have tried to get a good handle on why I make up these Titles, but regardless of anything else…I just enjoy it.
