This recipe is for a round bread bowl that is baked in a covered dutch oven. I did not create this recipe, but this is the one that I use to make my bread.
3 cups of Bread flour
1/4 tsp of bread yeast
1 1/2 tsp of table salt
12 oz of cool water.
Mix together in a bowl to incorporate all of the dry ingredients into the wet ones. You should end up with a shaggy ball of dough. Cover with plastic wrap and put in a place to proof. I use a proofing box, but if your kitchen counter is warm enough you can put it there. Allow to proof for 12 – 18 hours.
When the bread is done proofing, turn it out of the bowl onto a lightly floured surface and fold on side onto the other. Turn and fold one more time, then shape into a ball and put back into the bowl it came out of, cover with plastic and allow to proof for another hour and a half.
Put the dutch oven in a 450 degree oven with the lid on and let it preheat for 30 minutes.
When the hour and a half have passed, place the dough ball on a sheet of parchment paper and put in the dutch oven. Bake for 30 minutes with the top on. After 30 minutes, take the top off and bake for another 10 – 15 minutes to brown.
When done, place on a cooling rack. Slice, and lather butter on top.
Enjoy.
