And I know that that isn’t how that lyric goes…but, I have really nice recipe here.
Strawberry cider using frozen strawberries. When fruit is frozen, the water crystalizes and helps break the fruit up. And there will there will also be apple cider that will need to be included.
In just fermenting the berries and apple juice this brew will have a capability of a abv of around 6-8%. If you want to push that abv up to wine level then you could add one pound of cane sugar.
So…..
1 gallon of apple cider
Ilb of simple ole white cane sugar.
1 bag of frozen strawberries
2 grams of yeast nutrient just to help the yeast along.
Red Star Cote de Blanc yeast. This is what I currently have, and you can actually use an ale yeast or even a bread yeast.
I use a 2 gallon container for primary fermentation as having oxygen is necessary for fermentation to happen. Using the 2 gallon fermentor allows me to get the fruit out after fermentation is over. I forgot to mention I put the fruit into a hemp bag that has been fully sanitized like all the rest of my equipment.
Happy fermenting.
