I find myself sailing between the Scylla and Charybdis yet once again.
Between a rock and a hard place, so to speak.
And it all revolves around Want, and Need.
Humans have only a few things that we NEED…shelter, food, water, air, and clothing.
But the WANTS….oh all of the wants. The wants are myriad, aren’t they?
And the work involved with both is daunting. Both wants and needs require attention, care, and commitment to keep them in order. And it doesn’t matter if you are talking about objects, relationships, behaviors. They all require effort, and if you aren’t willing to put in that effort you are setting yourself up for failure.
But we are so cripplingly human, aren’t we? We go along in our lives happy with what we have, where we are, how we feel…and then we hit a bump. And that old familiar pang of thinking we need or want something, or someone hits. That our lives are less because of our lack of X.
Scylla and Charybdis.
Lay your money down. What are you willing to commit to? Because there are some things that you can’t completely control, as much as you would like to. And you have to be willing to commit to those needs and wants.
There is that word again…
Damn things that wake me up at 4am and refuse to let me get back to sleep.
