The Walker and I decided to get out and about today, and with the weather on Topsail Island being so freaking beautiful

We dropped the top, and headed inland to explore a tad.

We had been talking of going to Swansboro to hit a couple of thrift stores, and do lunch at one of our favorite restaurants….

Church St Deli, and Pub.  Right off of 24 as you get into Swansboro.  Can’t talk enough about the food here.  We have eaten here a number of times since the Walker moved down here, and have yet to be disappointed.  The best part is that right across the street is a really nice cigar shop where after lunch I went to peruse the wares there as the Walker went to a couple of the shops next to the pub.  Everyone was satisfied with the arrangement.

We then headed further south in search of more sand and waves.  We ended up here:

Now, you have to ask…since we left one island that had beautiful sunshine, and a view to die for…why would we go in search of another one?

And the answer would be, “Why the hell not?”  She has co-workers who live on Emerald Isle, and neither one of us had every been.  The top was down on the mercedes, the sun was shining….it just seemed like the thing to do.

Big differences between Topsail, and Emerald Isle.  Big differences.  The first being that most of the houses on Topsail are pretty much right on the ocean with very little protecting them.  On Emerald Isle, we noticed that the houses sat back with a big sand berm in front of them protecting them from storms and erosion.

Also, Emerald Isle is a much larger spit of land wider, and longer that Topsail.  Both areas are great places to be, regardless.  My biggest concern, now that I am going to be moving here in the relative near future is….where am I going to vacation?  I used to vacation on the ocean every year…..but when you wake up in the morning to this..

And go to sleep listening to the sound of the waves with this just off of your deck,

Where can you go that would beat it?
