I just watched the movie “Nomadland”. It was recommended by a friend who is living the Nomad life.
The movies is about a woman who lives in her van after losing her husband, and her career. Her husband dies in the hospital, and the company they both worked for, goes out of business.
That is all that remains of what was the first draft of this post. I was actually going to write a straight review….and I just couldn’t do it. I am not a reviewer. I know what I like. And I did like this movie. It is dark, yes. It is stark, yes. Does it trying to make a statement about poverty and homelessness? Hell, no.
Fern, the main character, lives a simple life. One where she learns how to be a Nomad as she goes. With help from pretty much everyone out there. She learns about Amazon Workamping. She learns about the Sugar Beet harvest, and workamping at campgrounds. She establishes a relationships, though she has decided to be alone.
That is the gist of the movie…which is why I will never be a great reviewer.
But the lifestyle appeals to me. At this time of life, no encumbrances….the Blue Magoo…..
