Easter in America.
Such a weird time. Growing up in Michigan there were times when there was still snow on the ground. We would be dressed up in our Sunday finest going to church trying not to slip and fall on our butts.
Easter celebrations around the world have their ties to pagan fertility rites. A celebration of the spring equinox…..longer days, time to plant the crops, get the women pregnant. You know….fun stuff. Other than it had nothing to do with chocolate bunnies.
Or really nasty bunnies…..
And who says that the bunny that comes around and poops out those brightly colored chocolate eggs is all that happy in doing so?
For many years I have always though of the Easter Bunny as something akin to the alien being in the movie Donnie Darko. I really liked that movie…..
Anyway…..enjoy your bunny pooped out eggs, and your ham, and green bean cassarole…which probably caused some of you great consternation in the grocery store because no one can ever remember that the french fried onion rings are kept RIGHT BY THE CANNED GREEN BEANS…you know…just like it HAS ALWAYS BEEN!
Just sayin’….
