I have been shaving my head since 2003.  I wrote about Rick Harrison and the Micro Touch Razor before.  If you want to read the first entry, click on this highlighted link.

I keep seeing the Micro Touch Razor advertised.  Rick Harrison from “Pawn Stars” is their spokesperson.  Rick keeps telling us the benny’s of using the classic safety razor…saying that it has been used for decades…which it has.  Mainly because other than using a straight-edge razor it was the only option.  But what I take the most umbrage with, is that rick states that he gets a close shave using the safety razor even on his head.

I call bullshit on that.

I have used many different kinds of razors on my head, and even with the ones where the head pivots, I still have some difficulty getting a smooth shave.  The only razor that I have found to do a decent job is a disposable made by Schick that has a head that flexes.  A safety razor definitely does not flex.  And the only way you are going to get a decent shave on your head from it, is if you are spending a good amount of time going over, and over every inch of your scalp.

Now, to be fair…you can get a good shave on your cheeks, and your throat with a safety razor.  There aren’t as many bumps, and there is more skin on your cheeks and neck than there is on your scalp.  You can move the razor around better.  You can’t do that on your head.  So, the point here is….sell your product to the people who will get the most benefit from it….don’t try to make your product appeal to those who know that it won’t work for them just by putting a celebrity out in front of the camera.  It is insulting.
