For those who don’t know, The Huffington Post is a news aggregator, and blog that was founded by Arianna Huffington, Kenneth Lehrer, Andrew Breitbart, and Jonah Peretti in 2005. The Huffington Post was purchcased by AOL in 2011. Arianna Huffington is its Editor-in-Chief.
What does all of this mean? What the heck is a “news aggregator”, and why should I even care?
Well. A news aggregator is a web application that collects syndicated content from online news sources, blogs, vlogs, and the like into one location.
And why should I care? Because The Huffington Post has an incredibly active community and receives over 1 million comments a month.
1,000,000 comments. A. Month.
Bloggers who appear on the Post have a lot to crow about. I will in all likelihood will never be among them. And why do I say that?
I don’t give a rats patoot about what celebrity is wearing a bikini, and how awesome they look in it. If you know me, fashion is not one of my strong points.
I’m not a mommy blogger. My days of cleaning up bodily fluids are far in the past, and as of right now I do not have any grandkids to coo over.
I don’t follow celebrities. Or what they eat. Or how screwed up their lives are. Or how hard it is be be a person in the limelight. Though I do pity someone who struggles to achieve a level of success in the public eye, and then has the balls to lament how hard it is.
I don’t have a huge fan base. This little blog gets on the average now 50 hits a day. A good portion of them come from outside the US. Still haven’t figured that one out, but to all my fans in Kuala Lumpur….”Hey, y’all!”
So. For those of you who check this out daily, or weekly, know that you are in a august and select group. Feel good about yourself! Share this with your neighbors, friends, and even your enemies.
And know that I thank you.
