Woke up to silence today.  I live on a fairly busy street in my little town.  And most mornings I can hear the cars passing by with people on their way to work, taking their kids to school, starting their days on the way to taking care of whatever errands they are on their way to do.

This morning was different though, as the area was blanketed in 3 inches of fluffy snow.  Snow has this deadening effect on sound.  When I took the dog out for her morning business, I could hear the light hissing of the snow as it fell through the bushes, and trees.  No cars passing….nothing other than that light hissing sound of the snow falling.

Soon enough that quiet hissing will be  replaced with the sound of the local squires firing up their snowblowers as they clear off their sidewalks, and driveways.  At that time the day will have officially began, but right now it is just enough to sit here in the silence of all of this snow falling……
