This post actually was conceived back in June. Somewhere around the end of the month, to be exact.
And when I start giving the background information of whatever it is that I am talking about, THAT is when peoples eyes start glazing over. My kids have done it to me all the time over the years. I am sort of used to it.
Sort of like ole David here:
I can’t just tell a story, or just describe how to do something. I have to give it background, flavor, history. What is the sense of imparting knowledge if you don’t impart it all? If you don’t let the listener have the total feel for what it is they are asking of you?
Makes no sense to me. It is like reading a good book. There are some authors I read who have a wonderful way with words. They pull you into the story, and you feel like you are there in the scenery. You smell the vegetation, you feel the humidity. It is real. And then there are some who bludgeon you to death with words that they use like mallets instead of paint brushes.
I hate those kind of authors. Of course there are those who hate it when I get started talking, because they feel that I am bludgeoning them to death with talking.
Unsophisticated miscreants.
