do be, do be, do be, doooo….
So, I was asked to Never Ending Question yet once again the other day.
“Why do you write those things?”
A variation of this question crops up periodically. Usually it is asked after I write about something like my toenails, or my hair….or lack of it, or any number of other posts I have made to this website.
The answer is simple, with a kernel of complexity. Just like me.
I write what I do because I can. I write what I do because it brings me a sense of accomplishment. And I simply enjoy it.
But it isn’t completely all that simple.
I fancy myself a writer. And since I do fashion words and post them out on the interwebs for people to read, I AM a writer. No, I don’t earn a living from it…..not to say that if someone offered me products to try and then to review that I wouldn’t accept such offers….hint, hint, hint. Or if someone wanted to use my website for advertising, or want me to write copy for them…I think I could wrap my head around that…
Wait.
I got lost there. You see, I have a million things going on in my head on a daily basis. I observe my world, and that observation results in thoughts. Sometimes those thoughts are even in a logical order….most times not. If I were a Mom I would most likely talk to you about my kids and their latest exploits. If I were a tech savvy kind of guy, I might talk to you about the latest gadgets and trends. Unfortunately, I am neither of those. I am just this guy over here who woke up this morning with the title of the post running through his head. I composed the majority of this in my head before I got up for the first cup of coffee.
And it was mighty fine coffee, if I do say so myself…and not, I didn’t make it. Though I do make a fine cup of coffee, thank you very much.
And after coming up with that title, I was very proud of the very first sentence….do be, do be, do be, dooo…
Yes, I write the things I do because I can. Yes, I write the things I do because it brings me a sense of accomplishment. And yes, I write the things I do because I entertain the hell out of myself when I do.
Score.
