So, I made the meat crust pizza that I talked about earlier. I used 1 lb of lean ground chuck, and 1/2 lb of sausage. Mixed it with oregano, garlic and onion powder, and an egg. Put it all in a glass dish and tossed it into the oven at 350 for 20 minutes.
When the 20 minutes was up I took it out, drained off the grease and cranked the oven up to 450. I put cheese, more sausage, pizza sauce, and mushrooms on it and when the temp hit the 450, put it back in the oven for 12 minutes. It came out looking amazing, and smelling even better.
The taste is that of a meatloaf with some cheese and sauce. The next time I make it I will add regular onion into the meat crust mixture, and then add more sauce and cheese to the top before putting it all in the oven. The best part of this was that it satisfied the feeling of needing pizza. After eating I didn’t feel like I needed something else, and that is what I was really looking for. That feeling of being satisfied which is lacking after a salad…even if I do load it up with a bunch of bacon and egg.
Aren’t you glad that you asked?
