Now who doesn’t like alliteration?

Yep.  The Christmas season is upon us.  Thanksgiving has gone.  Most are fighting to get rid of the excess pounds they put on over the 4 day bacchanalia that is Thanksgiving.  Some have put up their lights, and trees….

The Season of Light, the Season of Giving…the Reason for the Season…..

Lots of folks out  there that absolutely adore this time of year.  The parties, the cooking, the present buying and giving, the decorating.  And there are just as many out there who look to this time of year with fear and dread.  Families fractured by divorce, death, and substance abuse.  Bank accounts emptied due to job loss.  Plenty of reasons not to look forward to the holidays.

Today I ventured out of my enclave to pick up a few items.  The stores were bustling for a Tuesday afternoon.  Lots of women on their lunch breaks picking up a few things…..Grandmothers, and Grandfathers perusing the lists that they just received from their Grandchildren over Thanksgiving.  And the things to buy….Good Great Screamin’ Jaysus….Items labels “Left over from Black Friday”.  “Last Markdown.”  Piles, and stacks of televisions, video games, DVRs, Stereos, movies, books, appliances…but not one damn french press.

So it is evident that the race has begun.  The race to take care of the empty feeling.

You know the one.  Where you try to buy stuff to fill it up, or you try to drink enough to fill it up, or you eat enough to fill it up.

This time of year is a delicate tightrope walk.  Be careful out on the wire…..
