As I mentioned in an earlier post, Kansas City BBQ sauce is a tomato based sauce that is sweet.  Most sauces in the grocery store are very similar to Kansas City sauce.  This morning, just because I can, I decided to make a simple KC sauce to use on some steak that I had slow cooked yesterday.

The recipe I used is just this:

1 tablespoon olive oil

•1⁄2 cup finely chopped yellow onion

•3 garlic cloves, minced

•2 cups ketchup

•2 tablespoons molasses

•1/4 cup light brown sugar

•3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

toss the onion in with the olive oil and saute it.  Add in the garlic, and then the ketchup, molasses, vinegar and brown sugar.  Bring it to a boil and let it go for about 10 minutes.  Cool it and then use it on whatever meat you have.

Told you it is a simple recipe for Kansas City sauce.  Now go make your own and start tweaking it to match your tastes.
